چکیده
Abstract Background The use of nitrile compounds is usually high, particularly in chemical industries, which calls for serious concern because their relevance to the environment. essential role nitrilases bioremediation harmful nitriles from environmental wastes cannot be overemphasized. study aimed unveil biodegradative potentials bacterial strains associated with degradation pollutants. Methods Bacterial capable utilizing glutaronitrile as sole source carbon and nitrogen were isolated solid waste leachates by a selective enrichment culture technique. test organisms grown mineral salts medium (MSM), metabolic products determined using gas chromatography-flame ionization detection (GC-FID). nitrilase gene was amplified polymerase chain reaction (PCR) appropriate primers. Results growth studies showed that grew on two nitriles. doubling times 12.16 d 9.46 (specific rate, µ=0.082 ?1 , 0.106 ) obtained each pure Bacillus sp. srain WOD8 Corynebacterium WOIS2 (as single substrate), respectively. While same had 11.11 10.00 (µ=0.090 0.100 benzonitrile substrate). However, mixed (comprising strains) 7.40 7.75 (µ=0.135 0.129 substrates), 8.09 8.71 (µ=0.124 0.115 substrates). Based chromatographic analysis, residual concentrations at day 16 35.77 g L (72.2%) 9.30 (92.5%), respectively, whereas 27.39 (78.8%) 13.79 (89.2%), For culture, 13.40 (88.5%) 10.42 (91.5%), substrates (glutaronitrile benzonitrile), 7.21 (91.7%) 4.80 (94.2%) consortium. involved detected genome strains. gave PCR sizes 1400 bp 1000 bp, expected WOIS2, 4-Cyanobutyric acid (4CBA), glutaric (GA), benzoic (BA) metabolites following vitro. Conclusion These results revealed WOD8, (consisting have proven capacity metabolize benzonitrile) sources. higher rate compared organisms. also provide insight into evolutionary genetic origin encodes an enzyme catalyzes these Hence, harbor this kind may used promising biological agents remediation sites polluted nitriles, thereby opening new perspectives encouraging data bioprocess.

متن کاملA Novel Nonsense mutation in PANK2 Gene in Two Patients with Pantothenate Kinase-Associated Neurodegeneration
Pantothenate kinase- associated neurodegeneration (PKAN) syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by progressive extrapyramidal dysfunction and iron accumulation in the brain and axonal spheroids in the central nervous system. It has been shown that the disorder is caused by mutations in PANK2 gene which codes for a mitochondrial enzyme participating in coenzyme A biosynthe...

Assessment of medical waste management in seven hospitals in Lagos, Nigeria.
BACKGROUND Medical waste (MW) can be generated in hospitals, clinics and places where diagnosis and treatment are conducted. The management of these wastes is an issue of great concern and importance in view of potential public health risks associated with such wastes. The study assessed the medical waste management practices in selected hospitals and also determined the impact of Lagos Waste M...
